God is Calling You

God is calling you to do great and mighty things. (see john 14:12-14) To achieve them you need to get out of your comfort zone.  Prov 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Many of us stay in our comfort zone because we lack self-confidence. We may fear what’s on the other side of our comfort zone. We have become way too familiar with our comfort zone. We have developed a false sense of safety in our comfort zone not realizing we have stopped growing and learning.

Its time to change things up. Take a different route to work, go for a walk during your lunch hour. Get out of the boat and walk on water. (Matthew 14:29) Try something new, getting out of your routine is a great start.

Look for ways to be kind to those around you. So often when we live in our comfort zone, we create a bubble around us with out being aware of it we become inward focused.

Jesus told his followers to leave where they were (get out of their comfort zone, leave what is familiar) and go tell others about him and invite them to do the same.  Matthew 19:20 "therefore go make disciples of all nations."

Math 5:16 "In the same way let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven."

Mark12:29-31 "Love the Lord with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is to love your neighbor as yourself. "

Feal like you are stuck in a rut? You may have fallen in to the comfort zone trap.

Philippians 2:3 -4 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit but with humility consider others better then yourself. Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also the interest of others."

Romans 2:3b "Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought but rather think of yourself with sober judgement."

Here are some practical steps to moving out of your comfort zone.

1. Take inventory. Ask yourself  what has become familiar,  or predictable.

2. Come up with a goal (don’t forget to give yourself a dead line)                                                                                3.  Try something new.  It could be as simple as trying a new recipe or maybe a new hair style!

4. Take a risk! “Do something every day that scares you” Eleanor Roosevelt

5. Track your progress. Keep a journal.  It’s helpful to remind yourself why you are doing this.                                   6. Imagine the possibilities (mark 9:23 says that all things are possible)  Believe in yourself, You are worth it.
