Embracing Faith Over Unbelief
Beulah Campus Pastor | Justin Werven
As we navigate the ups and downs of life, I am continually reminded of the incredible journey of faith we are all on. Today, I want to share some thoughts on embracing faith over unbelief and how we can cultivate a life that trusts in God's promises, even when they seem impossible.
**The Power of Faith**
In the Bible, we find two contrasting stories that highlight the power of faith. Zechariah and Mary both received miraculous news from an angel, yet their responses were vastly different. Zechariah, faced with the promise of a son in his old age, responded with doubt, asking, "How can I be sure of this?" His unbelief led to a temporary consequence—silence. On the other hand, Mary, a young virgin, received the news of her divine pregnancy with faith, saying, "I am the Lord's servant. May your word to me be fulfilled."
These stories remind us that faith is not just a feeling but a choice. It’s about trusting God's promises even when they seem impossible. Hebrews 11:1 tells us that "faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Our faith pleases God and opens the door for His miraculous work in our lives.
**Creating a Culture of Faith**
In our journey, we must cultivate an environment where faith can thrive. This starts with our thoughts. 2 Corinthians 10:5 encourages us to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. By filtering our thoughts through the lens of Philippians 4:8—focusing on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy—we align our minds with God's truth and invite His peace into our lives.
Our words also play a crucial role. They have the power to build up or tear down. Let’s choose to speak life and faith, encouraging one another and declaring God’s promises over our circumstances.
**A Personal Journey**
I want to share a personal story about a time when I faced disappointment due to an injury. It was a season that disrupted plans and brought unexpected challenges. Yet, through the support and prayers of our community, I experienced the power of faith-filled words and actions. It was a reminder that even in our struggles, God is faithful, and He uses our trials to strengthen our faith and bring about His purposes.
**Moving Forward Together**
As we continue this journey, let’s commit to being a community that embraces faith over unbelief. Whether you’re facing a personal challenge or celebrating a victory, know that you are not alone. We are here to support and encourage one another, trusting that God is at work in every situation.
Thank you for being a part of our New Life family. Let’s keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author, and perfecter of our faith, and watch as He does immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.
Blessings,
